Low Blood sugar in 4 yo?

DS2 (4 years) has the most terrible temper tantrums when he wakes up in the morning, and after any naps he might have during the day. It can be so bad that he is thrashing, screaming and toally uncontrollable ... until we manage to get some milk and food into him, after which he gradually subsides and the red mist lifts.

Does anyone else have any experience of this and is it something to worry about? I am wondering whether to get his blood sugar levels monitored or something ... but his moods are really so extreme we are worried.

DD is now 9.4 and has been like this since she was around 5. Our answer it to try to feed her high GI food so she doesn't have the great troughs of sugar. Porridge for breakfast and wholewheat sandwiches for lunch with a banana for snack at school amongst other things. Our biggest problem is she won't accept she is hungry, in fact she has only ever said it three times in her life Shock.

When you suspect low blood sugar levels do they have really low body temperature?

No dikker Not unless they've been lying in a cold area unconscious! Most people with low blood sugar get very jittery, feel light headed and can even faint.
