I am just wondering if any of you have any experience of this.
My 14 month old baby boy has always had slightly bumpy teeth. Where most milk teeth are smooth the surface of his always looked like they had plaque on them and needed a good brush.
I have now seen 2 dentists, both of whom confirm that he has malformed enamel on his teeth, caused by a high fever (he had a temperature of 105 degrees) prior to the teeth coming in. According to them, this is quite common and high fevers can damage the enamel.
They have said that the teeth will be quite weak as there are areas where the enamel is very thin, so no citrus fruits, sweet drinks, fruit juice etc. Limit cakes, sweets etc and really look after the teeth.
What really worries me is that no one knows if his grown up teeth will be affected as well and if so how badly. It is a long wait to see if they are.
I was wondering if any of you have had any experience of this and how the teeth are now.
Thanks for any advice
