CHILDHOOD PSORIASIS..ANY TIPS?

My 2yo DS has been diagnosed with Psoriasis after almost 2 years of painful and distressing redness on his bum. His skin is starting to get rough and what I thought was cradle cap is starting to become hard and itchy. My heart is breaking for him as I know how cruel kids can be if someone looks different. I feel guilty for being so worried as so many parents face losing a child with a life threatening illness yet this is something so insignificant in comparison. I wonder if anyone has any tips for handling this condition?

DD has psoriasis too - she also had strep A on her bum that they told me was thrush for 18 months - that made her very sore and peeling, the psorasis made the skin crack.

We still see the dermatologist 2.5 years on and the outbreaks just seem random Sad

We use stuff in the bath, trimovate cream when it's really bad and just moisturising cream most of the rest of the time.

Sorry to hear about poor DD. I think it was strep A that DS had too from the pictures I've seen, just like a blowtorch burn. Just not sure what to do for him as the Epaderm cream isn't really helping and behind his ears is incredibly sore and cracked.

I have some Trimovate, do you think it would be ok behind his ears?

Yes we use trimovate behind her ears but only 3 days at a time max is what we've been told. We now have a milder cream with steroid in so we don't need to use trimovate so often. If it goes yellowy and weepy it is infected. I would ask for him to be swab tested too, if it's strep A they need antibiotics, dds was so bad she needed 3 weeks of AB (usually only 2).
