3yo DS suddenly started getting carsick

Poor DS has been car sick on the last couple of long journeys - once was at the weekend on windy, bunpy little roads down to the sea side, so we hoped it was a one off, but then he did it again yesterday on the way to MILs :(

So, does anyone have any suggestions? Going to start making sure the window is open for him. Also put together a bag to be taken whenever he goes in a car with spare clothes/wipes/nappy sacks and a towel to cover the seat if needed. I'm also going to put in a tupperware container with an airtight lid, lines with a carrier bag - unless anywhere sells specialist bowls??

i am travel sick so are my children have you tried those sea bands? they work for us-most of the time!

I'll give anythign a go - can you get them from anywhere in particular or on the internet?
I used to get travel sick but don't so much now - obviously don't when I'm driving but even as a passenger I'm much better.

i got mine from the travel section of local chemist-probably online too. they press on acupuncture sites or something- i was dreadfully car sick when pregnant and they worked great- i dont know if you can get kid size ones though- my sister made my lads ones smaller for his wrist

You can get children's ones. My DD uses them. I got mine from Boots although I'm sure you might get them cheaper elsewhere.

From experience, it's best to take corners slowly. My siblings were always more car sick when my dad was driving as he throws the car round corners while my mum takes corners more gently.

Other things that work are:
Opening the window slightly
Looking out of the window all of the time (we used to play games when we had to look for things to encourage us to concentrate on the outside world. Looking at things in the car is guaranteed to cause sickness)
Keeping eyes closed

If all else fails, It's almost impossible to be car sick when it's dark, but I appreciate that this is not a very workable solution!

thanks everyone
I will tell MIL not to be such a boy racer :o
This has actually coincided with DS not automatically falling asleep 10 mins into a journey - bet it's related

the TigerCub was exactly the same. We've resorted to Travel-eze for long journeys now.

:( or should that Envy as that looks much more like someone about to puke!
