My dd fell earlier with her dummy in, right on her face onto the wooden floor in lounge. Lots of blood and extremely obvioush her front teetth have been misplaced. Cue lots of panic, but eventually got to see a dentist at hospital who says it's one that's loose and moved back and is quite loose. He says keep her dummy in as much as possible as will keep the tooth forward. He is seeing her again tomorrow. If the tooth comes out they won't put it back in. Any experiences anyone? She is only 15 months and I am broken hearted can't stop crying. Her mouth looks awful. Thanks

No experience, but just wanted to add my sympathy to you. I hope your beautiful DD isn't in pain xx

This happened to a friends little boy (he slightly older though) and the tooth settled in again.

But even if it does fall out, it is not the end of the world, even if it seems like it at the moment.

Take a deep breath, have a look at your baby and be thankful that nothing more serious happened. Truly, it will be fine. She will be fine.

Now. Dry your eyes, pour yourself a huge glass of wine and get the emergency chocolate out.

my ds2 fell over onto a bike at playschool (at nearly 3yo).
He hit one of his top front teeth against the bike and it was knocked round 90 degrees.
It was loose at first (and lots of blood) and he had a week course of anti-b's to prevent any infection.
It settled back into his gum, but stayed at 90 degrees, although over the last couple of years it has probably come back about 10 degrees.
I was told it hopefully won't have impacted on his adult teeth given his young age at the time.

Hope your DD is ok.

My nephew did it too, falling out of steps from conservatory at mums house. his were a little bit discoloured. adult teeth are beautiful though!

Please try not to worry. It is only a baby tooth and she will have to lose all of them eventually :). I know how upsetting it is as ds1 and dd have both had accidents which have caused their teeth to become loose/have to be taken out.

Thank you all so much for your replies. Went back this morning and her teeth will stay in, just need the gum around it to firm up but both front teeth have died and will go a little grey. Her mouth is still bleeding a little and she is feeling so sorry for herself poor love. I feel a little better but very sad.

my DS did this too Sad

He was around 14mths and he tripped over a toy on the floor and fell against the leg of his wooden high chair and knocked his front tooth out root and all Sad

It was actually his first ever tooth so he went from having one tooth back to none Sad

I had to puree his food for a couple of weeks while his gum healed and I have been told by the dentist that his adult front tooth may come through slightly discoloured and he may need some of the scar tissue on the top of his gum snipped away when he is older.

I know exactly how you feel though and its horrid especially as now he is 5 and still has a gap at the front but you get used to it Grin

DD had a bang on the mouth with a bat when she was younger and her front tooth went wobbly and then went grey. We saw the dentist & he said it might stay grey or might go white again. Apparently, they can go grey looking because of bleeding inside the tooth, but the blood gradually breaks down.

Sure enough, after a few weeks (can't quite remember how long) it went back to normal. Doesn't look any different now.

Hope if your dd's teeth go discoloured they might be OK too.

My DD had similar when she was 15 months. Stupid DH thought she could step up a concrete step bigger than her little legs!! Angry Anyway both front teeth smashed and she lost them. For next few years she kept having little sore lumps come up in the gum and then go down. Turned out on XRay a piece of the tooth was shoved into the gum and had to be cut out. Her adult teeth were fine though Grin

Thank you new posters...looks like her tooth has settled back into position but LOTS of bruising and swelling in the gum area - looks bloody awful to be honest and have been in tears again!! I know its daft but she is just a baby still and am just gutted this has happened. My ds had a tooth that went grey after a fall (he was 2.5) but not as bad a s this. I dont mind the grey as long as the tooth stays. She goes everywhere at 100mph and dp found her sitting on a little coffee table we have tucked in a corner yesterday! My stress levels are through the roof at the moment, I just want it to heal but its going to take time. Thanks again ladies
