Do worms wiggle?

The bottom kind? DD had weird stuff on her bahooky today, cottony as someone else on here had described worms, but nothing was wiggling - when you see them will there always be movement?

(I feel itchy typing this...)

There is not always movement in the ones passed out in poo. Worms are vile aren't they? DS had them a few months ago. Anyway, if you want to be sure creep into her room tonight with a torch and take a peek at her bum - they come wiggling out at night to lay eggs.

Get thee to the pharmacy. You will all need to be treated.

goodmanners · 03/09/2010 20:50

Oh yes i have gone in with a torch a few times in my parentin life to look at my childs botty - not themost pleasant undercover job - i dreaded my dd retorting to teacher if she woke up that mummy had a torch pointing up her ass .

imawigglyworm · 03/09/2010 20:51

My ds had them and they were wiggly but very small. He had a lot of irritation from them too.
The whole family is usually treated as the are so easily passed on.

So movement-free cottony stuff could be worms? Bleeee I was hoping you wouldn't say that.

Her bottom is under a nappy, a vest and jammy bottoms, can't imagine me getting through that lot without waking her, sigh...

OK have peeked and sadly must come back with another TMI type question...how FAR do they wriggle? DD has conveniently fallen asleep flat on her tummy so could peer in the side of her nappy but couldn't get to her actual anus - do they stray far from there?!

imawigglyworm · 03/09/2010 21:01

Just around the anus area I think, they come out to lay eggs.

im having this disgusting problem at the moment too for the 2nd time in a couple of months and its really pissing me off!!! think my dd picked them up at nursery then we all ended up with them uuurgh!!! check her next dirty nappy for them, it does sound like worms so best to go to the dr's if she is under 2 or chemist, wash all bedding, towels, hoover, disinfect everywhere poss, all my bedding etc is on a hot wash as we speak for the 2nd time this week, and i hate making beds!!! good luck x

Has your DD had banana in the last 48 hours? Maybe it is worms but my dd had the same thing you described a few months ago, I was shocked at the state of her nappy and was convinced she had worms (except they were'nt moving) but after much googling talking to friends and a doctor it turned out to be the banana she had eaten the day before. Apparently some babies and young children dont digest banana properly and the fibres come out onto the nappy looking exactly like dead worms. The next day her nappies were back to normal. Anyway just a thought (a disgusting one at that) Grin

KatyMac · 09/09/2010 21:19

worms are white (generally)
Banana bits are black (generally)

crikeybadger · 09/09/2010 21:25

neverlookback we had a similar problems with repeat worms so to speak. You generally need to take a repeat dose of the medecine a couple of weeks after the first.

Caz10- my LO was literally screaming in agony when he had them. Not sure if that is the same for everyone though.

imawigglyworm · 10/09/2010 22:58

crikeybadger, maybe it was the irritation/discomfort &not agony that upset your LO. My DS was crying his eyes out because it was so itchy/irritating.
Elleeleven never heard that aboout bananas, but agree with katymac surely the banana bits would turn black? but helpful to know if thats not the case.

bumpybecky · 10/09/2010 23:02

I've found worm like things before when changing nappies. Only when I use wipes though. I think some brands leave fibres behind that can freak you out thinking they're worms.

Have you seen anything worm like in her poos?
