chicken pox/heat rash

can anyone help me to identify a skin condition which DD (18 mths) has? Small red spots in dense patches on neck, shoulders and slightly larger and more spaced-out ones on arms. possibly on scalp too, as she was scratching, though I couldn't see any when I looked - spots may be too small.

We recently returned from the UK to Spain, where we live, and it was 48 degrees or so for the first few days, so I assumed it was heat rash and stripped her, gave her lots of water, fans etc. rash has only been there 2 days, but spots on arms made we wonder if it's CP? she hasn't been in contact with any, as far as I know. no crusting or blistering or anything like that, and apart from scalp ones, not itchy.

she normally goes to nursery, but obv if it might be CP, I will keep her at home (when they saw it on her neck today, they asked me if it was heat rash, and I said yes).

any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks

PS I also have the most vicios bout of cystitis ever, including blood, and have been in "sitting position" for the last 5 hours!!

Does sound like heat rash. It will pass. Did she wear a decent level of sun protection? Try sudocrem on it.

Re cystitis - you need cranberry juice or cranberry juice capsules. Lots of the stuff. If it goes on beyond 24 hours see a doctor.

I don't know what it IS, but it really doesn't sound like chicken pox. I haven't know anyone have chicken pox without it blistering, plus the spots tend to predominate on the torso, with fewer on arms/legs/head (except in bad cases where they're everywhere).

thanks folks, reassuring to hear. I never let her out in the sun at all, as she is very fair like me, except yest in pool with sunsuit which zips up to neck (maybe that triggered it off, but better than sunburn). put sudocrem ontoo. re the cystitis, took cranberry tablets straight away, had no effect whatsoever, so sent DH out for serious medication from chemist, which has done the trick, and my poor sore arse is now where it should be at last, on the sofa!!

Ah - you put her in the pool.....lots of chlorine in baby skin can cause rashes.

Sudocrem will help. You need to put it on often for a few days.
