Anything anyone knows about formula and allergies, please?

The more I read the more depressed I am. GP has switched ds to soya after weeks of diarrhea, huge improvement but not wow. What do you make of these symptoms:
red ring around bum
hiccups a lot
refusual of big feeds
wind
poos like rotten eggs which are soft
Am I paranoid or do these symptoms add up to potential allergy. I've been thinking until now it was just a nasty stomach bug and it would be a few weeks of soya until it cleared.

Please tell me any experiences of your own etc.

P.S. I probably in denial, never heard of all this before! Can't connect it with ds.

could be lactose intolerance or cows milk protein intolerance neither of which I have experience of. You could try the allergies board to see if your lo's symptoms sound familiar

tell your doctor ds's symptoms and ask if he can prescribe a week or two of non-dairy formula like nutramigen, he should be pleased to do so. Mine did, and it cleared up all of my dd's symptoms (diferent to your son's though) and she therefore stayed on that formula until she was about 18 months.

How old is your ds?
Ask for a second opinion and switch to neocate or nutrimigen (neocate is the most expensive one so docs prefer to prescribe nutrimigen, it is also more palatable)
The proteins in soya milk are very similar to those in milk so shouldn't be prescribed for lactose intolerance/cows milk protein allergy.

(I am not a doctor btw)
