Hand, Foot and Mouth...but without the Mouth?!

DS (23 months) had a bit of a sniffle last week, not really ill, which I put down to either a mild virus or maybe teeth. He then got a spotty bum, all under the nappy area but again, that is not unusual for him when teeth are brewing.

This morning though, he has little blisters all over his hands and a few on his feet. Apart from here and the bum nowhere else on the body. I thought of Hand, Foot and Mouth but his mouth seems to be fine - no blisters, eating and drinking okay. Doesn't have a temperature and is fine in himself (well a bit whiney but again that's not unusual!)

So, can you get HFM without the mouth bit - or does it sound like something else? Being a Sunday, the only doctor option round here is A&E, which seems a bit drastic for a few spots.

My DS2 had it on his hands and feet but none on his mouth. GP confirmed it was hand, foot and mouth. Teeny little blisters, cleared up within a week.

Thanks horsemadgal. HFM confirmed by the doctor but fortunately his mouth still isn't too bad.

There's a lot of it about. A few weeks ago my daughters got chickenpox (2nd time) as first time was mild, now they have hand, foot and mouth, but nothing in the mouth.

Just to think this time last year everyone was panicking about swine flu

Thanks aristocat.

Ripeberry - yes, the doctor's daughter has it at the moment! She says it's rife round here (S. London).

I think today might be a CBeebies day...
