Is it usual to have no injection for a filling in a baby tooth?

just curious really. one of DDs friend's had a filling the other day and wasn't given any local anaethetic. is it because she is very young(3) or is that normal with milk teeth?

DS had one last year age 4. No anaesthetic given. I did query but dentist said it was not deep and would be far more of a problem trying to get him to sit still while he poked a bloody great needle in his mouth. DS didnt even flinch while the filling was been done, so I think this must be pretty standard practice.

normal I think

ds has had 2 fillings in baby teeth and no injection. i would not want him to have any injection anyway. didnt hurt him one bit.

my son had one with no injection, and the dentist said because it doesnt go deep into where the nerves and roots are, there is no need for one,its usually only when there is the start of a small hole, but not deep.

thank you. i'm sure it's hard enough for a young one without a needle, as you say.
