Dodgy nappies (Not tea-time reading!)

DD is 15 months old, although was born at 27 weeks so should be 12 months old. She has 2 teeth. For the past 2 days she has had really REALLY dodgy nappies of the exploding out the sides/back/legs type. We've had to bin vests cos they were too covered to clean, and each day we've gone through about 4 or 5 outfits in a day cos the others get dirty. Today she also started a runny nose. No vomiting.

Throughout she has been her normal happy self (except during the night when she was up for about 3 hrs in total and a bit whingy) and has been eating and drinking pretty much normally (a little less than normal, but she sometimes has days when she eats less so not completely out of the ordinary).

Do the wise MNetters feel that this is due to teething (she has been chewing lots, but for the first 2 teeth we didn't have this), a bug or something else?

What should we be doing about it? Carrying on as is, or taking her to the doctor (She's not dehydrated, weeing normally and pooing LOTS)? Should we avoid particular foods? How long should we leave it before getting it checked? Can I just add, I HATE POO!

Have you been giving her calpol at all??

As this can result in explosive poos to say the least

Thanks for the reply. I have been giving Calpol but it's never caused nappies like this before - and I only gave her a dose before bedtime so by the afternoon it'd be out of her system.

Dd had a slight tu
my bug at around this age, followed by what turned out to be a temporary sensitivity to dairy. We were clueless, but the nursery suggested we change her formula. I took her to the docs who dismissed the IDE, but I decided to change her to soya formula. She was cured!! A few weeks later we went back to the ok'd formula with no probs.

That's a ling way of saying perhaps you look at the diet!

Thanks for that notyummy. She does eat quite a lot of dairy, so maybe we need to look at that. Oh god - no dairy! She loves cheese, milk, yoghurts, custard, everything!

My DD (now 2.5) is severely intolerant to dairy, soya & oats and it does result in horrific poos.

All over her cot this morning

So I feel your pain
