I would sasy that is a good thing so that she gets appropriate treatment. Is she on long term antibiotics?

misdee · 22/07/2010 10:47

no, as her last infe3ction was a month ago. we seem to have stopped the infections in its tracks finally. her kidneys are all good with no problems.

could the small bladder be whats causing the problems?

It might be that having a small bladder is causing a bit of backflow of urine when it's full and exacerbating infection, but I'm clutching at straws! I'd also hazard a guess that the most likely thing is that where your poor DD has had so many UTIs, she hasn't been able to develop a larger, stretchier bladder due to needing to wee often? Bit of a chicken or egg situation really.
I'm sure though, that since she is quite young, she has plenty of time for her bladder to get to normal size again x

There is a possibility that a small bladder might be contributing to the problem or possibly not. A paediatrician will have more knowledge of this than a GP so it is good to have a paediatric referral. Doesn't mean that anything else will need to be done.

the UTI werent causing her to wee more often, but were causing her a lot of kidney pain, high temps and vomiting. she didnt have any pain passing urine.
