How much poo is too much for a 7 month old?!

Wasn't too sre where to post this. DD has been pooing several times a day for the last 3 days. I would estimate 6-7 times. She was EBF untill the last few weeks when we introduced formula in an evening and she is BLW and starting to eat a little bit of a wide range of foods now. She has been quite happy until today but she has developed a v. sore bottom. I'm not sure if this is because of the pooing of because i also think she might be teething (none appeared yet) shekeeps ramming her fist in her mouth and gnawing on it! Should i be worried about the frequent pooing? Previously she was going once or twice a day. Wasn't sure if it was worth a trip to the dr's (HV is generally useless!)

Gnawing generally is an indication of teething. Often they swallow a lot of saliva and poo more when they are gnawing. Do not worry about this, as you say, she's weaning and a change of diet will cause a change of bowel habit. Added to the fact she's growing.

Unless there is mucous in the poo or she seems unhappy I don't see what you are worried about

sounds perfectly normal, do not worry
use a good barrier cream (waitrose bottom butter is good) to protect her skin from the poo and (obv) change asap after pooing.

My DD was 7 months on Saturday and has been pooing 4 or 5, maybe 6 times a day for a few days now. Like your DD, this is a change from the once or twice a day we've been used to and I was a little worried.

We're still EBF here but she is eating a lot more and chewing anything and everything she can get hold of too. I think it's probably just normal and maybe something to do with teething.

She doesn't seem unhappy so I'm just keeping an eye on her.

I remember counting DD1's poos just after she had started on solids. She was averaging 6/7 a day. The HV reassured me it was quite normal.
