Pre-School Boosters with a slight temp

Hi

Just wanted some advice really. My DD is 4.3 and three times now I've had to take her to get her pre-school booster and every single time we have been turned away as she has had a slight temp (varied between 37.2 - 37.5) Apparantly if it is over 37.1 they can't give it. I've made her next appointment for 18th August and the nurse has advised me if she still has a temp then they will phone Public Health for their advice.

Has anyone else has this? She doesn't seem ill, she is quite happy and (on Wednesday when it last happened) didn't even seem particulary hot. TBH, I wouldn't even count the above as having a temperature!

TIA

In the trust where I work, the 'normal' temperature range is 36.5 to 37.5. Maybe you could try to make an appointment with the doc the same day to examine your DD and give permission to allow the nurses to act outside their protocol/ do the imms themself??

Difficult situation for the nurses, but frustrating for you!!

Thanks, it was DH that took her last time otherwise I would've probably asked to see the doctor. DD has always been a bit hotter than DS (I used to obsessed about taking their tempertaures when they were babies ) I wonder if she just has a naturally higher body temperature?

I feel sorry for the nurse, her face falls ever time she takes DD' temp

do your trusts automatically take their temperature then? Both dd and ds have had pre-school boosters and never had their temperature taken. I have been asked if they are unwell/running a temperature but they have never measured what their temperature is on the day.

the trust don't do temperatures before immunizations, sorry to confuse the issue! ... i meant at the hospital where I worked... for children being admitted as patients...

They never used to, I can't remember them getting their temps taking when they were getting their immunisations as babies, it must just be a recent thing.

37.1 doesnt seem like a significant temp to me at all! Try checking it yourself through the day (temps rise through the day quite normally). Your DD could just be a warm child.
