help with Chicken Pox

Probably been asked a thousand times before, but DS has this evening come down with chicken pox. He is well in himself, tucked into tea, its only as he has taken clothes off to get ready for bed that I have seen the spots. DD has no spots so far, but do I need to keep her off school tomorrow as well as him? I have managed to bribe persuade MIL to look after DS but she will run screaming if I try to include demon child DD into the bargain.
I think the answer to this is probably yes as they were both exposed at the same time about 11 days ago, so only a matter of time, but is she really contagious before the spots appear or just afterwards?

If she has no spots then I would send her to school. They are contagious for 1-2 days before the spots and 5-7 days after they appear but there is no guarantee that she will actually get them. I would check her in the morning and if she is spot free then I would carry on as normal.

You cant be sure that she will catch it, so if she has no spots and is otherwise well tomorrow then I dont think you should feel obliged to keep her off.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure she is going to cop for it. She was at a party for 3 hours with small boy who came down with them the next day. He then came to play 3 days later and his mum said "what do you think to this rash" and I said "thats chicken pox that is"
too late by then so have been waiting for the spots to appear.

When my DD2 had chicken pox DD3 didnt catch it despite them living in same house, so not a given that your DD will get it.

I would definitely send DD to school. No guarantee she'll get it yet and if she gets it in two weeks is going to be mightily peed off for being kept off school for 4.

well she went to school today, and there is still no sign of spots this evening. Scoffed all her tea and has been running around like a nutter as usual. Looks like she isnt going to get it (again) I think she must be immune as thats 4 times this year she has been playing closely with a child who has def. been in the contagious period!
