Vitamin d? Other supplements?

Do you give supplements to your kids?
I have discovered that my vit. d levels are very very low although it seems quite a common thing. It also seems that there is plenty of research out there linking vit. D (the lack of) with many diseases from parkinsons to flu.

However, while in other countries I have lived in I was recommended to give vitam. D to my kid, this was never the case in the UK.
Do you give any supplement to your children?

it is recommended to give vitamin supplements containing vitamin A, C and D from 6 months to the age of 5 in the UK. My 2 take the chewy bassetts one. (they are from age 3)

Wow...
Had no idea about this. My second child was born in Northern Ireland. I was never told, and when I moved to London I have never had this advice ever... Feel a bit disappointed.
My dd is 5, so I guess she does not need them anymore (???)
Thank you very much Seona1973

dd is 6 and still takes them (she likes the flavours). The bassetts ones are ok for kids and adults

Our bodies make vitamin D in sunlight, but modern lifestyles mean we don't spend enough time outdoors and in the UK, the sun isn't that strong, especially in the winter, so we are more likely to be short of vitamin D. The darker your skin the more of a problem it is likely to be.

There was some discussion about it recently for babies on the Breast & bottle feeding talk board.
