Ds had a bad fall today, has concussion, cut scrapes and a very painful elbow. Went to a and e and it was xray ed and they said no fracture,
he is still unable to move it without a lot of pain and has had it resting in a pillow since,
what do you think

Glad you have peace of mind LGoF!

dd had a fall on her elbow when she was 4yrs old - we had it xrayed and a lovely junior doctor in the children's A&E told us it was fractured...all ok so far! It was put in a sling overnight and I was advised to return to the fracture clinic the following day. Back we went, this time being seen by what I can only describe as an arrogant, egocentric and rude orthopoedic surgeon - no manners shown to either me as a the parent or to the poor nursing assistant present, to whom he barked orders. After manhandling dd's arm to the point that she had silent tears rolling down her little cheeks, he announced that there was no fracture and to take the sling off.

Unconvinced, I took her home but like your ds, she was in pain over the next few days with no sign of any improvment. I was faced with either going back and seeing the same consultant again at the fracture clinic or going elsewhere, which I did...I actually saw a specialist privately, I was so determined not to have her go through that expereince again (and I work for the NHS!!!)

Cutting a long story short, it had been fractured all along but by the time it was discovered, it was then too late for plastering...says a lot for the consultant when he missed the original fracture but the junior doctor spotted it

Moral of the story is...Always trust your instincts as a mum

I am so glad you that have got him the treatment he needed. Hope he makes a quick recovery, and is already feeling much more comfortable.
