I am looking for DS and Sister DD.

Looking for something that's challenging, hopefully get them 'hooked' into a series and fun.

Any ideas?

They are both just beginning to attempt easier, short, chapter books independently. Thanks!

The ones that popped into my mind were Horrid Henry and Roald Dahl.

Laurence Anholt's seriously silly stories are brilliant - really funny and based on fairy tales. good for both and girls.

My 5 year old DS loves Horrid Henry and also The Bare Bum Gang series
I remember reading Astrosaurs (by Steve Cole) and Captain Underpants to my older son when he was this age. These are all series books so if your DS enjoyes any of them then you've loads of books he can enjoy.

DD1 is 6.5 and DD2 is nearly 5
we have just finished the Enid Blyton Enchanted Wood series which DD2 really loved (DD1 read them herself)

  • Enchanted Wood, Faraway Tree, Folk of Farawat Tree. Then the Wishing Chair series is fairly similar

also the Rainbow Magic Fairies - hundreds of these, for your DD. great first readers.

Jill Tomlinson books are good.

My dd (5) likes my naughty little sister, Gobolino, the shorter Roald Dahl's (twits etc), Horrid Henry, Paddington, the far away tree, books by Dick King Smith (espically the Sophie series)
