SoupDragon · 09/05/2010 11:30

LOL. I've done this on many occasions I'm currently rather enjoying the H.I.V.E. books

EcoLady · 09/05/2010 22:36

I did this with a boxed set of Michael Morpurgo's and ended up sobbing my heart out at Private Peaceful at about 2 in the morning!

JaynieB · 09/05/2010 22:38

I ended up reading all the 'uglies' 'pretties' books as DSD was reading one - even to the extend of buying the rest of the series on Amazon for a quick read first before giving them to her!

SlartyBartFast · 09/05/2010 22:41

have read most of the jacqueline wilson

SlartyBartFast · 09/05/2010 22:41

what age group is cathy cassidy?

chaostrulyreigns · 09/05/2010 22:44

I read the Twilight series before DD1(10) and got hooked.

She wants to try Little Women. Has anyone tried that?

tacticalfloosy · 09/05/2010 22:48

Funny, I was just thinking about this in terms of maybe censoring avoiding some Victorian and Edwardian fiction, although I have a ds so he's maybe less likely to be given Little Women by somebody else or whatever. I would say that Little Women is a good read for anyone, and I would personally say Eight Cousins too, but I would attempt to keep Good Wives and An Old Fashioned Girl away from any girl in my sphere of influence. And yet I loved them, and love them still. Also Daddy Long Legs and Dear Enemy, the first of which seems a a bit stalkerish now, and the second discusses a lot of eugenic views in rather casual terms, although you could say that the main character isn't at all eugenicist. Tricky one for me.

MrsWeasley · 09/05/2010 22:48

I've always done this, if I was unsure of the book and now if DS can choose for himself so he will often recommend one for me to enjoy! :-)

Slarty dd1 is 9 and my mum got her the Cathy Cassidy gift set, it says 9, I was abit BUT I decided that was the helicopter mum in me coming out,

although she is ploughing through a pile of library books at the minute and has only read half way through the first one she said it is very exciting
