We've been given a Amazon voucher by an ex-parent as a thank-you.
We have a good range of books, but wondered if anyone could give their ideas of books we really ought to have because they're brill!!!
We have 2 - 3 year olds.
TIA

When my DD was that age she was addicted to very keen on Angelina Ballerina, but I am sure you must have all of those.

Also the Olivia books.

posey · 04/03/2010 19:02

Have a couple of Angelinas but no Olivias - will have a look, thank you!

Any more suggestions?

Who's in the Loo. Perfect rhyming book, I'm yet to meet a child who doesn't love it!

Takver · 05/03/2010 21:03

I'd also include Penguin and My Many Coloured Days both of which are lovely books in their own right, and (the latter particularly) good for talking about feelings, friendship etc with little ones.

My DD (will be 3 in May) loves Giraffes Can't Dance, Commotion In The Ocean, Tabby Mac Tat, and Cat in the Hat at the moment. It's the rhymes that they seem to love at this age.

Echo Giraffes Can't Dance, DD1 had it on her Christmas List she enjoys it that much. "Titch" & "The Tiger who came to tea" seem to be repeated a lot by her too.

ButterPie · 18/03/2010 23:10

My must haves would be:
The tiger who came to tea
Where the wild things are
The very hungry caterpillar
The Gruffulo
The baby's catalogue
Not now bernard
That's not my whatever

Evenstar · 18/03/2010 23:25

Once There Were Giants, Rosie's Babies, Husherbye, We're Going On A Bear Hunt were favourites of my children. Guess How Much I Love You, Stick Man and The Smartest Giant in Town and all the Gruffalo books if you don't have them, and Charlie and Lola books are very popular at the pre school where I work. I would second The Tiger Who Came to Tea, my youngest son's absolute favourite at that age.

Have you tried Me from 3, my son was given one for Christmas and it's great

'You Choose' by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt is a fantastic book to have in a pre-school. You have to choose from a multitude of pictures where you would live, what you would wear, what you would have as a pet etc. Really good at encouraging interaction and conversation.

maggiethecat · 10/05/2010 21:39

My 3yo dd (and the 6yo one) loves You choose and would have it every night. How about something different - Grill Pan Eddy by Tony Ross does not seem to be well known but it's a story about a mouse who takes up residence in a family home and after trying everything to be rid of him they end up being enamoured by him. Good rhyming and very funny.

chixinthestix · 10/05/2010 21:44

Each Peach Pear Plum
Don't put your finger in the jelly, Nelly
Chocolate mousse for greedy goose

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/05/2010 21:46

The Duck in the Truck and Jez Alborough
Some Dogs Do - a current fav in our house
Smartest Giant in Town and otehrs by the same authur/illustrator.

bossyboop · 11/05/2010 14:03

'Peace at last' dd age 3 knows it word for word!

Winnie the witch books are lovely - not too long not too much to read, we did one of the stories at tots yoga recently
