Fiction to tempt a reluctant 10yo boy to read?

Thought I'd buy my nearly-10yo nephew a book or two for Christmas and birthday. He's not a great reader and only interested in Manga comics. Any recommendations for something that might really grab him?

Both mine (11 yo and 8 yo) have loved the Percy Jackson books and I know that there are plenty of fans on here. (I like them too!)

If those are a bit much, the hottest books at the moment in my younger son's class are Beast Quest. I'm not sure if that's too young, though.

DS is 10 and dyslexic, he is enjoying the wimpy kid diaries at the mo, found beast quest a bit hard going. also likes michael rosen . and jeremy something or other...

Cressida Cowell's Dragon books.

Or if you're not set on fiction, the Guinness Book of Records or the Top Gear Annual.

At 10 DS(Now 14) was more interested in non fiction and books he could dip into ie Guinness book of Records, Top Gear etc the only novels he really read were Harry Potter.
However he did listen to a lot of story tapes. I bought him Rider set on CD which doesn't include the latest books, he was so desperate to find out what happened next he read them and has had a book on the go ever since.

I was going to suggest Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, but I see seeker has beaten me to it.

You could try Tin Tin or Asterix as well. They're comic book but with many puns and plays on words and very good vocab (also Captain Haddock has a unique style in expletives! Very inventive.) Blistering Barnacles anyone?

Those Dragon books look great! I'm going to get them for my son for Christmas. Thanks!

The Cressida Cowell audio books are really wonderful - read by David Tennant. I really recommend them.
