What's his/her favourite book(s)?

Needing inspiration as just realised we haven't bought any books for DD in ages, and neither have we been to the library

Can't forget the Very Greedy Bee, we've had that one every night for months!

TheWorstWitch · 09/08/2009 19:27

Thanks again everyone.

Splashed out yesterday and bought Owl Babies (which DD really likes), Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson, Guess how much I love you and a lovely book called the Magic Bed by John Burningham - I bought because it was signed by the author and I love the story, thinking DD would be too old for it now, but actually she loves it and follows the story.

Also bought a couple of these little libraries (Peppa Pig and Paddington), as she loves her Charlie & Lola one, which I really dislike and have put away.

Couldn't find Tiger who came to Tea, so will order from Amazon.

And, will order all your other suggestions, which we don't already have, from the library.

My son loves anything from Giles Andreas - Commotion in the Ocean, Rumble in the Jungle, Giraffes Can't Dance...

FAQtothefuture · 09/08/2009 19:32

anything his older brothers are reading..........usually wants it to "read" (on his own) before eating or ripping pages out .

K999 · 09/08/2009 19:40

Tiger Who Came to Tea
Farley Farts
Pass that Gas (another fart book!)
Snail and the Whale
Gruffalo
Charlie and Lola books
Meg on the Moon
Any Disney story

Any one with sounds....

K999 · 09/08/2009 19:41

OMG...you dont like Charlie and Lola...they are my favourite ones to read...

elvislives · 09/08/2009 19:47

In addition to those mentioned

Where the Wild Things Are
One Fish Two Fish
The Elephant and the Bad Baby
Little rabbit waits for the moon

TheWorstWitch · 09/08/2009 19:48

K999 - I'm really sorry to say that I HATE Charlie & Lola books. The illustrations are excellent but not too keen on story and character ... yuck! DH and I think they're a couple of middle class brats.

WHY do people love them?

OP posts:
mrspnut · 09/08/2009 19:52

I don't have a 2 year old but Dinosaurs love underpants is very funny.

We also love the Hairy McClairy and Slinky Malinki books as well as most of those already mentioned on here.

K999 · 09/08/2009 19:57

I love the TV series...the little girl's voice reminds me of the character Karen from Outnumbered and I love that series!! Tbh Charlie and Lola make me laugh.....I have 2 dds so can easily see how they are like Lola!! Especially the story about never eating tomoatoes....I went through the same thing with dd1!! I suppose if you can relate to it then you like it (not sure if that makes us middle classed though!)

TheWorstWitch · 09/08/2009 20:20

Sorry, the middle class comment was one made by DH.

I just don't feel that I want DD's heroine to be a girl who doesn't like sharing and doesn't like tomatoes, peas, etc.
DD loves her veg

Also not sure if my DD, at the tender age of 2years and 2 months, is old enough to get irony

Pooh is that you Bertie. Great book! DS loves the fart theme. The pooh jokes started early in this house.

MrsTittleMouse · 09/08/2009 20:35

Monkey Puzzle
Room on the Broom
The Gruffalo
Terrific Trains
Hairy Maclary
Three wishes (but that one makes me feel guilty, even though it's lovely, as it's about a Mum who is too busy to make a fairy costume!)
Peepo

Bumperslucious · 09/08/2009 20:48

DD loves Peepo and Each Peach Pear Plum. Can't wait until she is old enough for the Jolly Postman books!

I love the Charlie and Lola TV show, but not so keen on the books, at least the non-original ones. I just think it is funny and visually lovely. I also love the voices.

DD also loves Squash and a Squeeze by the Gruffalo author, but I must admit I am very bored of it by now.

Mummygoesohh · 13/08/2009 00:01

"Stick Man" (by the author of gruffalo)...DS (age 2) never tires of thisone!!!I may be word perect on it soon- wuold be really nice pre christmas reading because of the hero of the tale!!
"Calm Down Boris" not a bed time tale, but produces roars of laughter (sam Lloyd)
Then anything with Peppa Pig or Bob the builder in it.
"Me and my Dad"- can't remmebr who wrote it, but is a nice story!
