The ubiquitous Horrid Henry? Miranda Richardson does read it very well.

We've just finished listening to Eric Idle read Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was very entertaining, and I would recommend it.

I agree both good choices but we have had them on car journeys (And also Just William)

We are currently reading Lionboy by Zizou Corder as a bedtime story (recommended to me on MN!) which I think is available on audio book - my just 7 yo loves it, she is a big Famous Five fan and it is a bit like a modern alternative.

But do be aware that there are 3 books and the story continues through the 3 of them, it is not resolved in book 1!

We have only just started using audio books, so I am unable to recommend any. However I am able to recommend storynory, from which you can download a large selection of stories for free. I have forgotten the web address but if you google storynory I am sure you will find it.

thanks for storynory, didn't know about that!

The how to train your dragon series are good and dd1 and 2 loves You are a bad man Mr. Gum.

Oh you MUST get this and this, which are currently half price on Amazon.

Alan Bennetts reading of these is BRILLIANT, I'm sure they would keep your 2 entertained for a while.

Mine love listening to The Borrowers, an oldie but goodie.

We've also been listening to Tim Curry read Lemony Snicket - very entertaining, but a bit sinister.
