Milly molly Mandy CD and book
St Clares boxset
Malory Towers boxset
Ottoline goes to school
Ottoline and the yellow cat
The naughtiest girl x 2 plus two audio CD's
Goldilocks and the 3 bears - Lauren child
Princess and the Pea - lauren child
ALL the Mr Gum books
Clever Polly and the stupid wolf

Tumtum and nutmeg
Childrens Atlas

The Wire series 1 after reading a TV thread.

God, this list is long. I have sortof gone mad . I can afford it so my children aren't starving. It's just so easy , 3 clicks and it's done and I love it when the package arrives and my dd will (hopefully) enjoy reading them. Anyone else as bad as me? Please say I'm not alone

As long as you can afford it - where's the problem - I love buying books

Takver · 06/02/2009 14:09

And your house is big enough

On a cheaper note, I have learnt how to read the county catalogue and order books from the library online ... for free for childrens books even . . .my latest hobby when I am bored and should be doing accounts on a Friday afternoon

ohhhh good list but to curb your addiction please check out [http://www.thebookpeople.com]

they often have books sets super cheap (they have the Amelia Jane ones on at £4.99 for 5 books at the moment - and the Worst Witch ones too) it isn't a book club so no obligation for further purchases. I've also made a list recently from all the threads going about - love books - am waiting for order from Banana Books (offshoot of the book people)

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2009 14:24

Yep, I got the malory Towers boxset from the Book People for very little £.

Just as well as DD read them all in a couple of days flat

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 06/02/2009 14:28

I feel your pain, I have 10 books bought since Christmas, all sat in a (slightly unstable) pile by the bed

no time to read atm either

too easy especially now p&p is free over a fiver

ramonaquimby · 06/02/2009 14:28

bigtilly - how old is your dd that read malory towers? I bought the set too intending to give to dd - she's 7 - but wondered if they were a bit 'old' for her. She's an excellent reader so would manage reading them, not sure about content tho.

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2009 14:30

She's 9 RQ. She LOVED them! She could have read them at 7 too, but I think they are really aimed at older children.

I am thinking of trying to find the Twins at St Clares(?) set now!

ramonaquimby · 06/02/2009 14:32

I read them and loved them (grew up in Canada) always wanted to go to an English boarding school, sigh.....!

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2009 15:01

Yes, so did I!

So did one of my friends, and her parents sent her - she loved it!

mollythetortoise · 06/02/2009 15:04

i got the St Clare's boxset on amazon, was quite expensive at about £20 i think. I couldn't find a boxset anywhere else (book people etc)I think it arrived today, as my neighbour has texted me to say she has amazon package.. my neighbour is enabling my amazon addiction!

by the way, the Ottoline books are just lovely, hardback and stories look interesting. aimed at age 6-9 i would guess. Check them out on Amazon (go, on you know you want too)

I am quite back too - had a book arrive this morning for the DSs (Jeremy Strong for their joint bedtime story).

Another good children's book site is this -www.lovereading4kids.co.uk

You can even read extracts of most books first and you get a monthly email of all the new publications. Very bad news for bookaholics.

Niecie · 06/02/2009 19:50

Gah! Not 'back', 'quite bad' obviously

cazzybabs · 06/02/2009 23:18

i am addicted to....god it is bad.i moan about all the clutter inmy house but children's books I don't seem to mind

piximon · 07/02/2009 22:19

I'm addicted to book buying too. Although have been limiting myself to only buying book sets from the Book People (and their offshoots) of late in order to try to curb my spending. Storing them is becoming a problem lol, we've filled two bookcases already just with the dcs books. In my defence we have 5dcs so need a wide range of materials.

My mum is not into reading at all, as a child she was only ever bought one book and wasn't allowed to use the library so it was never a passion she developed.

In my dream life I'd own a children's bookshop and run regular story time sessions.
