ds1 liked any books, but particularly flap books.

ds2 rips flaps off, but loves the "that's not my..." series.
particularly bear and lion

This little baby
Anything by Sandra Boynton, but especially Moo, Baa, La La La
Each Peach, Pear Plum; Baby Catalogue and Peepo by the Ahlbergs

nkf · 10/12/2008 21:04

Shirley Hughes is good. Lots of titles.
And the Ahlbergs.

Dear Zoo. Can't remember who it's by, but we had the lift the flap version and my two loved it.

tumpymother · 10/12/2008 21:06

Dear Zoo - think its by Rod Campbell a big fave with my nearly 1 year old

nkf · 10/12/2008 21:07

And Goodnight Room.

Rod Campbells "Buster" Llift the flap books good too.

Shirley Hughes' Nursery Collection (I love her illustrations)

The Hungry Caterpillar and Busy Spider by Eric Carle. This book is good for lots of ages, and children love the holes in HC

wrinklytum · 10/12/2008 21:11

These books,I should say."Busy Spider" AND "Hungry Caterpillar"

Burstingattheseams · 10/12/2008 21:15

Baby Catalogue by Alan Alhberg - just pictures but lots of opportunity to talk about everyday things and point things out!

Hello Goodbye is good (sorry can't remember author) as it uses few words but lots of repetition

goldilocksandmylittlebear · 10/12/2008 21:17

Thats not my Monster, Thats not my Teddy, Thats not my........

My 12 month old loves all the feely bits!

The "busy" books by Rebecca Finn - Busy builders, Busy railway etc. They are flap books but really sturdy.

Alex Ayliffe books such as Dig Dig digging, and "emergency". The Chimp and Zee board book or some young Dr Seuss are lovely too - don't underestimate them.

These DK "My first board book" ones are good too for typical truck-loving little boys - My first tractor book etc
Link here. We could take that anywhere and DS would spend hours turning the pages and poring over the photographs. I think the non-fiction format held his interest more than a story book.

Also Eric Carle board books not only the Very Hungry Caterpillar but Very Busy Spider etc, they are lovely.

wrinklytum · 10/12/2008 21:26

Yes,there are many "10 rubber ducks" good too.

Busy Spider and Hungry Caterpillar are dds firm favourite though.

DS was obsessed by the Ayliffe books aged about 2.Lovely rhythmical language.
