My 8 year old is a very capable but reluctant reader. Schools expectation is that they read every night and it is painful, we spend way more time arguing about it than he ever does actually reading....
He completed all the reading stages in year 1 so has been able to read books of his choice for a while now, but finding something hes actually interested in has been a challenge.
However...! He has just sat and read the entire of Dogman to me in a single sitting and has asked if I can buy the next book because he wants to read that too. My mind is blown 🤯
He said he prefers the comic book type lay out, which makes sense because he gets easily overwhelmed when there's a lot of text on a page.
I can't say from what we've read so far that I'm the biggest fan of Dogman, but I am willing to look past that if its going to encourage him to get reading.
So I'm wondering what books in a similar format your children have enjoyed, and you'd recommend please?
