What next after Harry Potter and Percy Jackson?

My 7yo son has motored through all of these as audiobooks. He’s about to start the last Percy Jackson. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to start next? Ideally a series but standalone would be ok too. Thanks!

DD read the Howl's Moving Castle series after she had finished the Harry Potter ones. I think she was around age 8 or 9, but if your DS enjoyed and finished Harry Potter and Percy Jackson he would be fine by my guess with Howl's!

A Series of Unfortunate Events or His Dark Materials? Not sure if they’re seven year old or a bit older though

Skandar and the unicorn thief, there are four books so far. If he reads them he may in time to wait for the release of the fifth book- just like we had to for Harry Potter 😁

A series of unfortunate events
The secret Benedict society
The other Riordan series
Artemis Fowl
Captain Underpants
David Baddiels books - very funny, there are 5 or 6 in his collection
Treehouse series
Wimpy Kid

Dark Materials is recommended for 12-17 there are grown up themes in it.

AHH I missed the audiobook bit, Captain Underpants, treehouse and wimpy kid are probably better as physical books.
If you don't already the Libby app is great for free audio books you just need to link your library card

These are all brilliant recommendations. Thank you!

How to train your Dragon series. Cressida Cowell. Beautifully written and loads of them!

Second How to Train your Dragon - perfect for this age group. Available on audio book narrated by the lovely David Tennant.

My DS really enjoyed Jenny Nimmo's 'Charlie Bone' series at that age, which are in the same sort of vein as Harry Potter, about a young lad with magical powers at a school for smilarly gifted children, but a bit more down-to-earth.

Susan Cooper's 'The Dark is Rising' series might be a little bit too old for him yet (the protagonist is 11 at the start) but worth keeping in mind for a year or two's time.
