Recommendations for graphic novels 11 year old - no horror

My year 7 boy has become even more reluctant to read than when he was in primary school. He’s never yet been gripped by anything he’s read - partly due to being a late reader and lacking confidence. Now, along with other difficulties, he doesn’t want to read at all.

I want to encourage him with a graphic novel - any recommendations that aren’t horror based. He’s easily scared and has a lot of worries at the moment. I’m thinking of ‘Northern Lights’ as it is a novel the rest of the family have loved - however, he might resist for this very reason!

One of my nephews really liked the Alex Rider graphic novels at that age: Alex Rider

There's a great graphic version of the Tui Sutherland series "Wings of Fire". Would second the Amulet suggestion and Alex Rider. You can also get some of the Percy Jackson books as graphic novels (has he seen the Disney+ series?). Has his school library got a graphic novel section? Ours has, and it has a wide selection. If you are buying, see whether your school has a Scholastic book club going - the book sets ae often very discounted, and the school will get credit to buy books as well.

Diary of a wimpy kid
Alex rider

At 11, my son got into dystopian books, he's now 15 and doesn't read as much as I like. My DD12 is the complete opposite, she devours them.

Naruto
One Piece

Solo Levelling

There's a lovely graphic novel version of the Hobbit that children in my Y6 class love.
