My child is 10 but she is not a big reader at all.
However she does read Pamela Butchart that is her favourite author she has read all her books. (The baby alien series I think?)
She is now reading Charlie Changes Into a Chicken by Sam Copeland which I think she likes because it's similar to Pamela Butchart books (she tells me)

I am looking for suggestions of books like this
And this reading age (according to Amazon these books are age 7-9 years)

Thanks

I have had the absolute pleasure of working with many children that age who were not big readers! I found the Dog Man books to be a firm favourite as they are more of a comic style of book and are apparently very funny.

I would also recommended some of the shorter Roald Dahl books like The Magic Finger or George's Marvellous Medicine. Looking at Pamela Butchart's books, I also wonder if she might enjoy Goosebumps?

If you are after something more modern then Tom Gates by Liz Pichon and Dork Diaries by Rachel Renée Russell are popular series.

I hope this helps! I get a bit carried away when it comes to children's literature, sorry!

She does love Goosebumps but not to read herself.
I read it to her and she loves listening to it.
Goosebumps are aimed at older kids aren't they (at least compared to the Pamela Butchart series)

I could root out those Roald Dahl ones. I think we do have them.

I could have a look at the others

Has she read anything by Annabelle Sami? Her books are good fun - also Konnie Huq's Cookie books, or maybe the 13 Storey Treehouse series?

purpleme12 · 05/04/2024 18:20

I think I got 13 Storey Treehouse from a charity shop the other day.

Will have a look at the others

My son likes Pamela Butchart and he also loves Isadora Moon series by Harriet Muncaster, it might be a bit young for your daughter but worth a look.

Clarice Bean books by Lauren Child

purpleme12 · 14/04/2024 11:30

So she's started on 13 Storey Treehouse and she's really liking that!

Brilliant! Hope she enjoys it, there are so many in the series to read afterwards too.
