My dd is 2.9 and we want to get some numbers and letters books. Does anyone have any recommendations?

There are so many (at least 1000000000000000 at last count - every single issue of the dreaded Books for Children catalogue has yet another gimmick item based on counting & alphabet) that your best bet is to find a big bookshop & just pick something that clicks with your dd's interests - there's bound to be something.

That said, I do love Satoshi Kitamura's From Acorn to Zoo, because of his drawing style and the lovely faintly surreal atmospheric hinted narratives in the pictures.

And this (Dr Seuss) is of course a necessary classic.

Thanks Bink - going to book shop today so will have a look around.

The Usborne 123 Jigsaw book is good, my daughter loves it. There's a big chunky jigsaw piece on each page with which you make a long train. It's also got counting dips in the pages which are just the right size for little fingers.

I'm not explaining it very well am I?

It's quite pricey (£9.99) but great as a present.

The Usborne First Words and First Numbers books, plus Flashcards available from Usborne Childrens Books are fantastic. Go to www.usborneteam.co.uk for details about my website where you can buy these books or join my team!!
