Book for a Y3 girl

Looking for book recommendations for Dd who has just started Y3.

She would prefer "some" illustrations and is into mystery type books. She's enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes series for kids and also likes animals.

Any classic type books or more recent ones very much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Holly Webb is great for Year 3 girls. She writes lots of different animal stories but also has some other series like Maisie Hitchins, which are mystery type books, and another called Museum Kittens

The Jasmine Green animal series by Helen Peters is also perfect for this age, and Zoe's Rescue Zoo.

Bear and Rabbit series is funny and full of coloured illustrations.

Isabella Moon is aimed at age 6-8ish so she might still enjoy them, and the Kitty series by Paula Harrison (she's a superhero with cat powers).

Dick King Smith wrote loads of animal stories and age 7-9 is the perfect age for them. The Hodgeheg, The Sheep Pig, The Invisible Dog, The Mouse Family Robinson etc. George Speaks is another favourite Dick King Smith book of mine, although that one isn't about animals

Lots of girls start getting into Jacqueline Wilson at this age too. Many of her books are aimed at slightly older, due to more mature themes, but some of her earlier stuff like The Suitcase Kid, Double Act, Mum Minder, The Bed and Breakfast Star, Tracy Beaker etc are fine for Year 3/4 age.

I loved the Harriet the Spy books when I was 8-9.

I also remember loving the Animal Ark books (the classic ones not the new ones!), The Home Farm Twins books , Charlotte’s Webb.

My niece got really into the Murder Most Unladylike series around 8ish too - but apparently they were a little scary until she was a little older. She liked being scared but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

They’re not mysteries as such but Ben Miller’s books are lovely for your DD’s age - The Day I Fell into a Fairytale and The Boy who Made the World Disappear are particular favourites here

Kate on the Case is a great series with illustrations.
Christie and Agatha's Detective Agency has some black and white illustrations. Ditto for The Travelling School Mysteries.
Scaredy Bat is a colour-illustrated detective series but it might be a bit too easy for though.
