Books for teen boys?

My son is 13 and on our annual holiday holiday he can plough through read 6/7 books, mainly as we have no phones available. He's gone right off reading at home, in bed, as he used to, again, as tech is more appealing now.

He used to enjoy fantasy series (Wolf Brother, etc), but never got into Alex Ryder. He did enjoy the Charlie Higson series, though.

I'm asking for any recommendations for single books or series for teen boys who have gone off reading a bit?! Thanks in advance......

I think at that age they can start getting into non- children’s books. I would recommend Stephen King Night Shift, short stories because it’s got The Boogeyman in it. One of the best stories I’ve read

Patrick Ness. Has he tried Sherlock Holmes? Jon Ronson for non-fiction. Also, Michelle Paver's other, non Wolf Brother stuff is also really good. Northern Lights is worth a try.

High School librarian here - our boys love Tom Hoyle's books (Challenger, Thirteen etc) and the Gone series by Michael Grant. You could try graphic novels (Maus is a particular favourite with our slightly older ones). What subjects does he particularly enjoy in school? We have a lot of success with specific subject-related titles (Bill Bryson The Body, for example, if they're into biology or sports psychology books like the Winning Mindset for the football lot!).

Look at great non-fiction. Quirky science & engineering.

Was coming on to say Gone series a big hit here, and anything a bit on the verge of grisleyness. Chuck a bit of murder and tension in and our son was hooked again! One of us is lying was good too.

My DS is 13 and he’s recently enjoyed:

Jurassic Park
The Extinction Trials triliogy
anything by Matthew Reilly (most recently read Cobalt Blue)
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (this was for his English class but he enjoyed it so much he bought the sequel All the Broken Places and read it in 2 days)

He’s currently reading Tomorrow When the War Began

Terry Practchett, perfect age to get into Discworld! Also Good Omens
Books mine have read this year: Lockwood and co
Percy Jackson and other series (Olympus?) by same author
Red Dwarf
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
Sherlock Holmes short stories
Adrian Mole
Troy/Heroes Stephen Fry (audible versions excellent)

Username above reminded me - the Skullduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy! There's about 15 in the series so far so should keep him going for a good while if he gets into them.
