DD loves Murder Most Unladylike and has read them all - she’s 11.5 and I’m trying to find a series that she’d like that isn’t too young for her but also not violent, sexualised etc?!

I loved Agatha Christie at that age

My dd loves the Scarlet and Ivy books. They're less gruesome than Murder Most Unladylike and she preferrs them for that reason.

Haha I saw the title and came here to suggest Murder Most Unladylike! DD is nearly 13 but has enjoyed some Agatha Christie over the last year - she loved Murder on the Orient Express. She’s also loving books by Kathleen Glasgow but they may be a little old, it’s worth a look.

Agatha Christie!

I was going to suggest Agatha Christie too. I took my daughter to see the author of the Murder most unladylike books give a talk a few years ago, and she said she had loved Agatha Christie growing up.

The Clockwork sparrow series + Pinch of Magic series. DD has just finished the Murder most unladylike series and has moved onto these ones.

Lady Grace mysteries

PollyannaWhittier · 14/05/2023 16:57

Definitely old 'cosy' murder mysteries - Agatha Christie, Patricia Wentworth, Georgette Heyer

BlueChampagne · 15/05/2023 12:14

She'd be fine with Sherlock Holmes too.

What about the Ruby Redfort series by Lauren Child, or the Poppy Pym series by Laura Wood?

WeirdPookah · 16/05/2023 13:43

A Girl Called Justice by Elly Griffiths.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 16/05/2023 13:44

Anthony Horowitz did some Diamond Brother mystery books that I loved!

Ellie Griffiths “A girl called Justice”( and there are a couple of others in the series) are also set in a 1930’s boarding school. If she likes Murder most unladylike, she should enjoy these.

DD who also loved these has enjoyed Scarlett & Ivy series, The Clockwork Sparrow series (The Sinclair Mysteries) , the eleventh orphan series by Joan Lingard,
