DD will turn 10 shortly and is a huge reader. She's partial to a series and has read and enjoyed all of the following:
Harry Potter (whole series twice, loved it)
The Morrigan Crow books
Scarlett and Ivy series
Murder Most Unladylike series
The Sinclair Mysteries and Taylor & Rose series by Katherine Woodfine
Ruby Redfort series
Violet series by Harriet Whitehorn
All the David Walliams, all the Roald Dahl

She is just about to start the final book in the 'Mysterious Benedict Society' series which she has enjoyed a lot. We tried 'Series of Unfortunate Events' but she didn't much like those.
Any recommendations to keep her busy!?

My 10yr old just read 'The Extraordinary Adventures of Alice Tonks' and loved it. She is a big fan of Sophie Cleverly, Robyn Stevens and some of the others on your list.

The Dark is Rising
Green Knowe series
A Wizard of Earthsea
The Wolves of Willoughby Chase
Emma Fischel's Witchworld series
Katherine Rundell is an author to look out for too

BlueChampagne · 11/10/2022 13:01

Edge Chronicles, if you really want to keep her busy!

Artemis fowl
Dragon rider series
The Katherine Rundell rooftops series
The boy who grew dragons

Just a small cross section of my 10 year old bookworm's shelves!

Harebrain · 11/10/2022 13:41

@BlueChampagne I also came on here to recommend The Green Knowe books by Lucy Boston. I loved the Moomin books by Tove Jansen too. They were magical.

BlueChampagne · 11/10/2022 13:55

Harebrain did you know you can visit Green Knowe? We went last summer - look up The Manor at Hemingford Grey 😀

LesserKnownKardashian · 11/10/2022 14:01

Land of Stories series

@BlueChampagne I had no idea!!! Thank you. I’ll definitely be visiting 😄

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 11/10/2022 16:37

Murder most unladylike series by Robin Stevens.
Also seconding Katherine Rundell's books.

YetAnotherWalk · 11/10/2022 20:12

Terry Pratchette, all of it. Plus David Eddings’ Belgariad. That’ll keep her busy.

HairyFeline · 11/10/2022 20:46

The How To Train Your Dragon series (12 books!!!) is excellent. Don’t know it’s target age group but it is a really enjoyable read!

SquashesPumpkinsAutumnBliss · 11/10/2022 20:51

Anything by Lauren St John - she has written several series, Laura Marlin ones and Wolfe and Lambe we have read.

Katherine Rundell books

Ross Welford - Time travelling with a hamster is first one

Piers Torday’s the lost wild trilogy ( well think a fourth out now too!)

DeathMetalMum · 11/10/2022 20:54

Agatha Odly
Alex Rider

Slightly older but dd2, who is 10 at the beginning of next year just read Maze Runner and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately anything I suggest she refuses to even read the blurb.

Albgo · 11/10/2022 20:54

10 might be a little young but maybe the bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathon Stroud.

FourChimneys · 11/10/2022 20:55

The Wheel on the School. Not sure if it is still in print but I read it over and over again at a similar age.

The Swallows and Amazons series might appeal or might not, could be worth a try.

Wallabyone · 11/10/2022 21:14

My 10 yr old dc is just finishing the Hobbit and wants to read LoTR next. How about Northern Lights by Philip Pullman?
Also echo Katherine Rundell...he really enjoyed The Explorer.

ProfessorGambol · 11/10/2022 21:24

Another vote for Adventures on Trains here. My 9-year-old bookworm loves them!

Bot a series, but Asha and the Spirit Bird, Tamarind and the Star of Ishta, Aarti and the Blue Gods are all brilliant too.
