Warrior Cats - what next...?

My DS (10) has recently discovered the Warrior Cats series. It has caught his imagination like nothing else and he is reading daily of his own accord for the first time. This is the first series he has truly loved.

Are any of your children Warrior Cat fans, and what else do they like to read?

You could try Varjak Paw and The Outlaw Varjak Paw by SF Said. About ninja cats, so a similar vibe to Warrior Cats.

Wings of Fire. One of the writers for Warrior Cats (it's a collection of them!) Wrote the Wings of Fire series.

Other things my 10 yr old has read: Bear Grylls Mussion Survival, Lost Rain Forest (only a trilogy currently, I think), and the Willard Price stuff - ideally written by a new author in his style.
He has also read Hiccup How to train your dragon, and the Wizard of Once by the same author.

However, he is most pleased that his Y5 reading record doesnt get carried into Y6, and is planning on using the whole Warrior series as his school reading books again next year!!!

@PeonyTime amazing! My son is just finishing year 5 too and I imagine he will want to do the same.

That's great, I will check those out, thanks so much.

@pollyhemlock thank you, that's just along the right lines. He has read and enjoyed Varjak Paw

Well Wings of Fire look absolutely perfect. Nothing comes close to cats, but dragons are up there too!

If he’s into series fiction you could try the Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan. Sort of medieval fantasy with warriors, quests etc. Ruins of Gorlan is technically the first but there are various sub series. No cats that I remember though!

Thanks @pollyhemlock, I'm not sure if he is into series fiction as this is the first thing that has captured him, but I can see how this is very similar! I'll add it to the list, he seems to like the fact of a world with a hierarchy and structure (a Pokémon fan of old Grin)

Just a thought: you know there are about (7million and) 42 warrior books? And still growing...

Warrior Cats is a great book series and, to be honest, I haven't met any good ones.
