hi all! my 10 year old son has been working on a pandemic project the last several months - he reviews a new audiobook - on video - every weekend. he does all the filming and editing and effects and logos and everything himself. after sharing his videos with a few local moms - they agreed his energy is infectious and he could absolutely inspire other kids to love books like he does - so they encouraged me to share his videos with a wider audience. please check out his reviews and if you like them please share and subscribe. hoping your kids develop a love of stories! www.youtube.com/channel/UCC_rQ6X6rPpUvP6C_iAC7JQ

My daughter hates reading so it’s not fun for us so we don’t end up doing it as much as we should and then she doesn’t develop as quick which would make it easier, plus need to make more time for me to read her stories. Been reading same book for months and months because we don’t read for ages then go back a few chapters to remember story. Makes me feel like an awful mum

This is a list of ideas

Get your child to engage with the text. Ask her to act out scenes etc and also try devising quizzes that are based on the story. Have her jot down notes on the novel too. You could even help her make a cartoon strip of the book or a bookmark.

Or you could discuss themes of the novel in question at night with her. Find books that appeal to her interests and hobbies. Join your local library, pick out books and read them. You can also find books at your local bookshop. Have a look to see what she likes.

Support her by asking her to tell you what she thinks will happen next.
