Hi Guys
I've been searching everywhere for a good workbooks for a 3 year old (4 at the end of July) I ordered one that I saw advertised on FB as I was so worried my daughter will be behind before she starts big school in September. I have to say I'm really impressed! I've attached a few pages and I highly recommend it.

Why are you worried she’ll be behind?

Children don’t need to enter reception knowing how to count, write or recognise letters. They will be taught that in the correct way.

Children need to enter reception recognising their name, being able to use the toilet, dress and undress independently, feed themselves and follow basic instructions.

Don’t put lots of pressure on her.

3 and 4 year olds really don’t need workbooks.

Hmm

Former reception teacher here. Please don't buy your child any workbooks at all! Things that you can do to help instead: teach your child about things like putting coat on independently, fine motor skill activities and anything related to learning through play.

Lol recommending something but then not saying what its called. Oooops!
Children aged 3 and 4 really dont need to be doing workbooks. Ditto 5 and 6yo really.

Playing, hearing books read aloud, dancing, singing, adventures, cooking etc are the best things for children under 7. Studies have shown that children taught to read at a very young age typically arent doing as well aged 11 than children who start academics aged 7+

They don't need to know this stuff BEFORE they go to school - that's what going to school is for !!

If I were you, I’d spend your time, money and effort on tactile sensory experiences such as messy play and baking.

Wow I didn't realise I would be attacked for sharing a good thing I found! I bought it from a facebook advert which led to a website called www.snowtigermedia.co.uk
Don't be scared off by the word workbook, I'm sure you buy your kids picture books so why not this? My eldest daughter was advance with a lot of things at that age and became a free reader by year 1, and yes I did buy a lot of workbooks back then. I thought I'd suggest this book as I found my daughter engaged with it a lot more as the book is fun and exciting and she doesn't feel like she is learning.
During lockdown my eldest daughter was getting all her lessons on zoom whereas my youngest was watching a LOT of tv.
I know a lot of teachers say your child doesn't need to learn these things before starting reception but they are not being honest. I have many friends who are teachers and they always complain about parents that don't teach their children at home! just saying!
Don't take my advice if you don't want to, but what harm will it do to sit with your child for a few minutes to do a bit of learning? It will only do them good. The book is filled with fun illustrations so I honestly see no harm in it.

katgreen apologies if you thought I was rude. Some children do enjoy doing workbooks even at the age of 3 so if they are happy to do it and just see it as a game then I suppose why not.
From the 2 photos though the books you bought don't look any different or special from the dozens of types you can buy in WHSmith, Waterstones, Poundland, The Works or supermarkets so if I was going to buy any I would probably purchase from there rather than a random website I have never heard of.

Thanks IloveMaise, the books were recommended to me by a teacher friend of mine as it was shared on her FB teacher groups. I believe you can buy them in Smiths, Waterstones and most bookstores but as they are new I bought mine direct from the publisher as the delivery time was quicker.
