Reading Rebels

Has anyone used Reading Rebels by Amnesty International? You pay £12 a month and get books in the post suitable for 5-7 year olds. My DS is turning 6 soon and is a bit of a reluctant reader and I'm wondering if getting a new book each month might ignite more interest. I would be happy to support amnesty so I don't mind paying the donation but I wonder at what level the books are really aimed at. Anyone used it and would recommend?

Never tried it, but how many books do you get a month? If you go to The Works and let him choose books you'll be able to get books for less than that. I always found choosing the book was one of the biggest incentives to reading it.

Hi, yes I've signed up to this, it's great - I've got a 5 y/o and 7 y/o. So far we've had one called Ruby's Worry which came just at the right time (Covid self isolation period as school closed a year group!) and was all about how to manage worries. The other one was Were all Wonders which is about people that look different. They come with activity sheets for them to do too. The books are spot on in terms of lovely, subtle messages and themes and the kids love getting it through the post as the letters are addressed to them :) A nice way to support Amnesty, too.
