David Walliams and death of a parent

I’ve recently started reading chapter books to my two boys aged 7 and 5, a couple of chapters a night.
We’ve just read our first David Walliams, Demon Dentist, and I was quite taken aback by the ending even though it was hinted at throughout - the death of the boy’s dad, leaving him an orphan.
Do any other Walliams books contain similar? We bought a box set so have lots. My boys aren’t overly sensitive and I’m not averse to more serious themes, but I’d like to be forewarned so I can mix it up with something lighter!
Thanks.

I think that most good children's books start by getting the parents out of the way but I did find the Demon Dentist better suited to children a little older Smile

Granny in Gangster Granny dies at the end, so does Grandpa in Grandpa's Great Escape, a few people die in the Beast Of Buckingham Palace and Awful Auntie's whole plot is centred around a little girl's parents' death at the start. Stay clear of Awful Auntie, it's the worst of William's books anyway. Gangster Granny is still great for younger people though, five might be a bit young, I'd say youngest six.
