Hi just as the title says. Ds used to always read when he was younger, English has I’m always been his best subject but he never reads anymore and I can’t persuade him to. Any good reads?

What is he interested in? Cookery? Football? The environment? There are countless well written recipe books, a few decent football memoirs, several environmental tracts written by surprisingly young 'activists' - for example.

I've found that even teens who are resistant to non-compulsory novel reading will readily order trunkfuls of books on their own specialist subject.

Absolutely nothing that I’m aware of. I’ve bought him mystery, crime, funny, detective.. I think the closest would be sci fi as he loves those kind of programmes. Just not reading

Could you get him the books that his favourite shows are based on? Most TV/movies are adapted from something.

DS15 won’t read novels. He’ll read biographies, histories of wars/ dictatorships/ political movements. Likes accounts of life in countries such as Norrh Korea.
As a PP suggested, look for books on other interests even if it isn’t something “usual”. I’ve decided I don’t care if he’s reading a socio-political history of Vietnam, at least he’s reading!

Mine would at least read the Ripley's Believe it or Not annual cover to cover for several years in a row around that age..

Call me crazy here, but one of my dads favourite books is Northanger Abbey. He had to read it during O Levels and really enjoyed it.
