What rubbish, ds1 loves it when the gingerbread man gets it from the fox!!

Mind you, I am aware of a mum who would vet books for her DD and considered 'Room on the Broom@ too scary!

at book burnings. How crazy. Not to mention the potential for an unhappy ending if any of the children of these idiots stray too close to the bonfire.

The article almost reads like a spoof. And if she rewrites the Lemony Snicket books and puts them online, surely that will be breaching copyright?

I agree with Snowleopard about 'The Snowman', though; the ending is really sad. The boy just looks so lonely. Fair enough, it's inevitable that the Snowman melts, but I would have preferred it if one of the boy's friends had arrived to play with him at the end of the book. He's just left holding a scarf, with only memories and no human contact. I'm not about to burn the book, though!

I think most nursery rhymes / fairy tales are quite diluted and Disneyfied as it is

How very excellent! PMSL. I ought to have known nothing you read in the Daily Mail could possibly be true!
