I’m a bit late to the party but I would save His Dark Materials for MUCH later - I describe it as about Children but not necessarily for (quite young) children.
The How to train your dragon books have a boy main character but there’s a super girl character in the stories ... feisty, brave, loyal 💪
The worst witch is good, my naughty little sister, famous five (ish), Star Friends, Matilda, and agree the blog A mighty girl has oodles of girl options - incl non-fiction.

Mine loved the Franny K Stein series at that age.

There is an American series which offers longer, slightly more challenging simplified versions. They are called Classic Starts.
