Books for advanced 7 year old girl?

I'm buying Christmas presents for my nieces and nephew. I always get a book or two each for them. Three of them are quite easy (ages range 6-12) but the 7 year old girl I'm struggling with as it's quite an 'in between' reading age. She's an advanced reader, and is quite a thoughtful, emotionally intelligent girl but still has bit of silliness. Any ideas?

Rumer Godden's The Doll's House books?
I loved them at this age (I was similar, good reader but loved dolls).
I'm going to be reading them to my 5yo.

Tree House series
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
David baddiels Books

The tree house series is slightly easier Dd 10 is a very strong reader but still enjoys these books because they are funny, they should be fine for a strong 7 year old.

Maybe ask her parents what she likes to read. My DN is advanced and gets all the children’s shakespeare / classics etc from school - but he loves Harry Potter and Horrid Henry so as his aunt that’s what I buy him.

The illustrated Harry Potter books are lovely keepsakes. DD read the first one at 7, they get darker as they progress but the first 3 are OK for strong younger readers.

The Kernowland series.

A pinch of magic by Michelle Harrison. I bought it for advanced reader DD for her 8th birthday and she loved it!

This is a US series but a good one- Zoey and Sassafras. It uses science and has a girl as a central character.
The Pippi Longstocking books.
Books by Tom Fletcher/David Walliams?
Michael Morpurgo books. As well as Dick King-Smith.
The Secret Garden.
A Thousand Dresses.

Thank you everyone! So many good ideas here. I generally introduce them to new books so I'd rather find something their parents wouldn't choose. Now I have too many options!

Try this book

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/109014198X?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It's called Wolf and the Goats. Great message and isn't your usual story.
