I volunteer in a primary school library, and we are about to come into some money due to commission earned from book fair sales. Our library is reasonably well stocked, but looking for suggestions as to what your Year 3 - 6 DC enjoy. Old favourites are very welcome, but I am particularly interested in relatively new books, which we probably don't have.

Probably too late, but David Almond books! The boy who swam with piranhas; skellig; the fire eaters. Brilliant.
Also Benjamin Piff - can't remember the full title - loved by my boys.
And the Charlie Bone series
ok I'll stop now...

Anything by Piers Torday
Anything by Diana Wynne Jones - esp for this age group (more year 4 upwards): Charmed Life, Magicians of Caprona, Tale of Time City
Just William books
More for the boys- there is a series of rugby books - rugby warrior, rugby heroes etc. They are ghost/mystery stories set in a rugby club. My 9 year old is riveted!

My year 3 loves the Dr Noel Zone Danger is Everywhere books, and my year 7 still enjoys a read through them, as do I...

I write and illustrate a children's book series. The stories follow the big bad pirate Captain Cuthbert and his long suffering cat, Scat, whom I guarantee you will fall in love with. Captain Cuthbert on the other hand is bossy, greedy and selfish and always lands himself in trouble.

The untold stories of a water dragon for the younger ones. Set in Scotland, a story about friendship and morals but also funny anecdotes such as what happens when a water dragon eats a curry to try and breathe fire.

Series of unfortunate events I agree is great, good for the older kids I would say

There are some fantastic new books. David Walliams seems to entertain younger children very well.

Hi all,
For my Nutrition and Health degree I'm looking for books that will encourage pre-school and early years children to eat healthy. Books that are fun for children and get a clear message across.
Any ideas?

Thank you for any help

I've just written and illustrated a new children's book for 3-6 year olds for Kindle and the Kindle app featuring a friendly new character called 'Obble'. He's quirky and cute, so no monsters here. Inspired by the likes of the Mr Men and Meg and Mog, my childhood favourites.
Anyway, I would love for anyone to take a look and see if 'Obble' is for their little one. The first book in the series is called 'Obble and the Mysterious Sneezes'. Feedback is also welcome.
