Hello, can anyone give me advice on books for a twelve you old reluctant reader, he has read Horrid Henry, Captain Underpants and not much else where can i go next ? He is expected to read every night for 30 minutes but spends most of his time glued to his game console.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My sons have read those books. They also enjoyed the dogman books and David Walliams books. They also enjoyed Harry Potter but they are maybe a bit long for a reluctant reader

Wimpy kid books or middle school ones? mine also liked factual books such as Ripley believe it or not

Illustrated Harry Potter? Big pages so it's not daunting.

My 6 year old is reading them at the moment.

Tom Gates - not too many words on a page, lots of cartoon pictures and genuinely funny!
David Williams ‘Worlds worst children’ are short stories so quite manageable.

Graphic novels? Alex Rider is done in the graphic version. Or if he likes something shorter, why not try things like Tintin and Asterix.

The tree house storey books?

Has he read How to Train your Dragon? Not too long, split up by little pictures, funny & exciting.

Is there anything he's really into? Might he prefer to read fact over fiction?
