Female main character books for DS aged 7

Having a look through his books I've realised all his stories are about boys Blush
Can anyone recommend some books with a lead female? Preferably challenging gender stereotypes. He's easily distracted so nothing too long or majorly wordy.

Oh yes, The Worst Witch, DS used to love those at about 7. He was also very fond of Enid Blyton's St Clares books. Rather amusingly, he was a good way into the first book before the penny dropped and he realised there were no boys at the school Grin

Just coming back to say that my DS, 7 (who for a while would not touch books with a female title character) has just devoured 'Ronia the Robber's daughter' and called it the best book he has ever read.

DS1 loved the Fairy Detective Agency series by Sally Gardner about that age. I see there are some more now ...

The Kitty books by Bel Mooney. Funny and slightly different.
