We're in a bit of a rut with ds and what he reads. He's got a couple of beast quests and some Roald Dahl but none of them grip him. He's still quite immature.

What could I get him that he might enjoy?

My 7yr old DD has finished Enid Blyton magic faraway tree series and has just started The Famous Five.

Horrid Henry, Jeremy Strong as suggested above. Also try Dinosaur Cove series by Rex Stone. If he's into football, how about the Frankie's Magic Football series, by ( supposedly) Frank Lampard. There are lots of Star Wars chapter books for ' beginner readers'.Don't think that because he's 7 he's too old for picture books- there are so many great ones out there- try Mini Grey, Emily Gravett, Bob Graham. David Walliams has done a couple, too.
