Mine still like making box models.Save interesting packets/packaging, like toothpaste boxes, cereal boxes, egg boxes,in fact any packets. It's amazing what imaginative things can be made with scissors glue, scotch tape and paints, glitter etc. Some designs will have a function, some are just creating for it's own sake.Great fun and lots to learn about how things fit,or don't ,fit together.
Great fun. Try it.

Camping with Scouts. He loves nothing more than chopping wood, cooking on a camp fire and enjoying the activities.

My preteens love baking and trips to the library when I can tear them away from YouTube that is!

thesoupdragon44 · 18/10/2016 08:52

My boy will fill his week happily with hours of minecraft on computer. We have different ideas and will be going out on our bike's for a ride along the seafront. Catching Pokémon, and maybe even a few slices of cake with hot chocolate. Half term is time to chill for us.

Sarah3kids · 18/10/2016 11:04

Take them to their Nan's - where WIFI access is limited - which gets them playing in the woods. They make dens & entertain themselves with various tools getting dirty!! Swimming courses and for our evenings - they also get to choose a new dvd (but of an old, usually 80's film) so we have film nights & a new book to read.

My son read The Blunder Years over the summer - we all ended up reading it (once we'd finished our own books!!), including my husband!!

busterjames · 18/10/2016 11:11

My 2 little grandsons love playing with there scooters and scuttle bike, This keeps them and me fit as I have to chase behind !

If the weather is fine it'll be walks and hikes.

He has to practise chess as he has a tournament coming up after half term/

I have no doubt that after getting him to exercise and do his chess there will be some gaming time!

Bake off/Masterchef challenges - can be as a team or against each other, make a meal or dessert which we all then enjoy. Putting it like this makes it a lot more fun than "you are off school, I'm busy, you are cooking tonight"! To make it more like the shows it can be things like
The bake off technical - following a recipe
The bake off show stopper - make it look fancy
Masterchef - has to include x ingredient (which conveniently needs using...)
Masterchef - limit to x amount of ingredients
Masterchef relay - make something together but only one working at a time

georgiecurl · 18/10/2016 16:41

playing in the woods

Susangilley7 · 18/10/2016 17:59

Playing outside. Lots of fresh air and then all get a good night's sleep!

nessa46 · 18/10/2016 20:57

my daughter talks to her friends on whats app or oovoo , which if fine for a short time, so we go walking with our 3 dogs for some fresh air and exercise and a compromise is cycling to the local park to meet her friends x

Leeds2 · 18/10/2016 23:21

Mainly sporting activities. Also visiting friends, and going up to London to explore.

cathisherwood · 19/10/2016 08:53

The boys will be outside as much as possible. They particularly love the woods where they can climb trees, build dens and make rope swings. If there is a stream nearby that is even better.

Radley1 · 19/10/2016 09:12

My daughter and her friends have a great british bake off .We bake our offerings in our own houses and meet for afternoon tea and judging at
one contestants house. Great fun and tasty too

hayleywalden560 · 19/10/2016 12:59

Baking, getting outside as much as possible (rain or shine), in fact anything which involves getting messy and creative!

Every1lovesPatsy · 19/10/2016 13:05

Monster dancing
Zombie cooking
Slimey swimming
Other wordly walks
WW2 inspired art and battlescenes,

Are all on the agenda for this Halloween break.

chaplin1409 · 20/10/2016 09:21

During half term my 10 and 11 year old daughters will be kept entertained by going for walks, cycling, reading, crafts and hopefully a visit to the cinema.

Soccer, swimming, walking dog and Halloween preparations

suester74 · 01/11/2016 18:38

We make the most of the outdoors & have had a fantastic fun packed week of trips to the woods & the beach. We've collected twigs from the woods to make witches brooms for Halloween, and enjoyed long walks & plenty of tree climbing. We've planned a Halloween party & made spooky cakes, gruesome jellies & eyeball soup. We've been lucky with the weather and so enjoyed an afternoon at a Maize Maze which my son loved! There was a pumpkin field there too so we picked our pumpkins & carved them on the last morning of half term week. The highlight of the week though was going to a nearby beach where a seal colony comes in ready to pup every year. The first of the seals have just started arriving & it's a wonder to see, all the children are enchanted by these beautiful mammals. So all in all its been a very hectic, fun filled half term week! Smile

ParadiseCity · 01/11/2016 18:43

This half term my 10 & 11 year olds enjoyed going on proper walks with wading across rivers and scrambling up rocky crags. Or craggy rocks. Also playing with relatives dog, visiting ruined castles and bottle flipping of course. Plus they will both draw and doodle whenever there is no WiFi.

claza93 · 02/11/2016 06:28

Gosh we did lots! House work and home work and then met up with friends for trips to the park and the cinema! My mum took two on the bust and to the local museum which they loved!!
We then headed to see family in Harrogate - ice creams, national trust properties, more ice creams, shopping, bike rides and a kids park run!
Need a rest now though haha!
