Illustrated / comic style books

Can anyone recommend any of these books? I'm thinking in the style of Tin Tin with drawings and text but not actually Tin Tin. The child I'm buying for isn't a keen reader and likes super heroes, fantasy etc. Any ideas? I've been googling but can't find anything suitable.
Thank you!

HI there, you might find this page helpful, focused on Graphic Novels for kids
www.booktrust.org.uk/books/children/comics-and-graphic-novels/

Our local libraries and children's bookshop in Richmond also have regular book clubs for kids who like graphic novels and comics. Maybe check if there's anything similar near you?

How old?

Our local libraries have books in the children's section labelled "O" - which stands for "Older" or "Over-sized", basically they are illustrated books aimed at older children, with complex stories. Tin Tin would fall into this category, as would Asterix.
I would recommend popping into you local library and having a leaf through their selection to see if you can find some you think they will love, a sort of look before you buy session.

Why not Tintin? How about Asterix or Lucky Luke? Or maybe they are not superhero-y enough.

Most bookshops these days seem to have sections for children's graphic novels these days, not just Tintin & Asterix, so maybe you could just have a browse, possibly guided by SusieFlo's list.

Have a look at Phoenix Comics, they have several books resulting from the popular strips, plus vice versa - books turning into comic strips

How old is the child?
Hilda Folk
Zita the Space Girl
Adventure time ( but I struggle to make head or tail of it!)
Marvel books of Star Wars, Thor etc?

Tin Tin's always a winner - my son's been reading it since he was 5 and still enjoys it at 11 (me too!). Phoenix is also good, with some superhero/fantasy stories as well as humour.

One thing to bear in mind about contemporary superhero stories is that they can be quite dark - surprisingly violent at times and with some quite mature content - so best to tread warily if your child is quite young.

You can find lots collections of older superhero comics from the 60s, 70s & 80s where the content was generally safer. I remember Elfquest being quite a good all-ages fantasy comic.
