When little children begin to expand their horizons, the results are often hilarious and make a surprising amount of sense - mustard tastes "spiky", radiators are "radiheaters". This week we're asking you what funny things your DC has got mixed up about, for a chance to win a Little Mouse hamper.

In The Mouse Who Reached the Sky, Little Mouse sees something red and shiny hanging from a tree and thinks it’s a marble, but Mole is sure it’s a balloon and Rabbit says it’s a ball! Petr Horá?ek perfectly captures the adorable mix-ups children make when they are small, in a charming story to be shared time and time again.

Download the How To Draw Little Mouse activity sheets here and here , and watch the How to Draw Little Mouse video here:

Share your sweet stories for the chance to win this gorgeous Little Mouse hamper including three Little Mouse books by Petr Horacek, activities, stickers and a signed, limited edition Little Mouse print for your child’s bedroom.

This competition is sponsored by Walker Books, and closes on Tuesday 1 September.

My daughter seems not to be quite sure who is mama and who is papa sometimes. Sometimes she uses a mixed word "mapa" to cover all her bases... :P

When asked what my daughter had done to her crisps, she said she had "crumplated" them.

compy99 · 04/08/2015 21:06

our little chap calls spiders "Stubbers" funny thing is, it has caught on and all the family now call them this too!

Sitting in the sweltering night heat in a small town in Guatemala, "SShh" said our four year daughter, we replied what is it, what can you hear? " the footballs, can you hear them?" She meant crickets.

My youngest DD used to call Dandilions 'DandiRahs' (because lions go rah!!) tea spoons- wee poons chocolate- caca (which happens to mean poo in French) so all our French relatives found it hilarious! Also the Gruffalo was called the Muffalo for a while and her big sister wore 'cool shits' (school shirts)

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 05/08/2015 20:16

We have overneaf (underneath)
obstercourse (obstacle course)
Turtoise (turtle/tortoise - interchangeable)
firebulance (ambulance/fire engine " ")

trilbydoll · 05/08/2015 20:22

DD is currently obsessed with cutlery but convinced it's called cranium which makes some interesting conversations (mummy I want my cranium). She also loves flamingoes - pink parrots with tall legs Grin

llewejk · 05/08/2015 21:48

A cut stinks rather than stings in my house :-)

buckley1983 · 05/08/2015 22:46

Our little one has created his very own vocabulary which we have all adopted! Tomatoes have become 'bimatoes' - porridge is more commonly known as 'Pyo'. Yesterday morning, he woke up asking if he was wearing his 'Jymajas' (sounded so cute from the sleepy mouth of a toddler!)

midlifehope · 05/08/2015 22:58

My ds aged 3 calls his Winnie the Pooh toy 'willy poo'.i have started saying the same thing!

Pico2 · 05/08/2015 23:07

My 4 year old DD will be going to Rainbows when she is 5. She recently said "what is the thing that boys go to instead of Rainbows? It's Skunks, isn't it?"

When she was 3, she called omelette "omulette". I think she had watched Sophia the First too often and was used to the word "amulet".

blogmumjd · 05/08/2015 23:54

Favourite saying in our household was "Cardy-get-on" for cardigan

Emmad1977 · 06/08/2015 13:57

My son used to call the toaster the 'breader' and the camera was the 'photo maker'. Ever so cute! I've loved reading through others comments too - its fascinating how children's brains work.

Sophia08 · 07/08/2015 08:31

My two year old daughter sings "sing a song of pencils" rather than "sing a song of six pence"! She also calls plasters 'plasticine'!

idleweiss · 07/08/2015 16:58

Also my eldest DD likes to swim in the 'shadow end' of the swimming pool and ponders what kind of 'flying sauces' are out there...

ThePaperBagPrincess · 07/08/2015 17:15

My son wanted to get something to show me and jumped down from the sofa and went to run out if the room. Just as he got to the door he turned round and said "Flash in a back Mum!"

So cute Smile

chilledoutmummy · 07/08/2015 18:33

My daughterdescribes sour sweets as spicy sweets which always makes us chuckle ????

mishknight · 07/08/2015 20:22

My little one calls bracelets 'wristies'

Fleur78 · 08/08/2015 20:48

My daughter tells her daddy he is lowing the mawn it's so cute

mummyfumble · 08/08/2015 20:56

DS says 'greedyments' for ingredients

He also says people should help their chothers instead of each other.

FizzyBubbly · 08/08/2015 21:08

2yo DD is very good at saying "yes please" which is great, but she also says "no please". Not quite right but very polite of her!

She also refers to lawnmowering as hoovering the grass
